At EDPR, we see forest fire prevention as an essential part of our future. With a business model that relies on reducing the effects of climate change through clean energy, we aim to always stay active in the fight against the risks posed by forest fires.

Due to this, over the past year, EDPR has been working to integrate the prevention of forest fires into its overall sustainability strategy. For example, firebreaks have been established in a 38-hectare area as part of our commitment to a forest fire prevention program for the creation of firebreaks to manage fuel at access points. EDPR’s participation in this initiative has been integrated into its Fuel Management Plan. For this reason, an additional allocation for the prevention of forest fires was approved last September.

Rural communities are particularly vulnerable to this type of disaster. In addition, these communities are typically among those located closest to our wind farms.
